The adult dose of codeine for pain is 15-60 mg in every 4 to 6 hours when necessary. 

As for  the adult dose of codeine is 10 – 29 mg in every 4 – 6 hours as needed. But according to research, the maximums dose of codeine for treating cough is 120 mg for every 24 hours. 

Is it safe to take it if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Research has shown that little amounts of codeine are always secreted in breast milk, but the side effects or adverse events are small in infants.
